PRLaw helps employers and employees with employment law, independent workplace mediation, workplace investigations and health and safety. Employment issues can be stressful and hard to navigate alone. We help you get it right the first time.
Employment law for employers and employees
We can help with:
- employment agreements and workplace policies
- performance management and disciplinary processes
- restructuring and redundancies
- dismissals
- personal grievances
- collective bargaining
- representation at the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court for both employers and employees
Independent workplace mediation
We offer private, independent workplace mediation in Southland. Angela MacKenzie is an accredited mediator through the Resolution Institute. As the mediator, she doesn’t act for either side. She helps the parties talk openly in confidence and reach their own agreement.
Mediation can help when:
- colleagues, or a manager and a staff member, can no longer work together
- a personal grievance, complaint or disciplinary issue has been raised
- a restructure, redundancy or exit needs to be agreed
- there’s a disagreement about health and safety
You choose the timing and the place: our office in Invercargill, your workplace, or online. Our lawyers can also represent you at mediation, including at Employment Mediation Services.
Independent workplace investigations
Katherine McDonald is an accredited workplace investigator. When a complaint of bullying, harassment or misconduct is made, a fair, independent investigation protects everyone involved: the person who complained, the person accused, and the business.
Health and safety
Health and safety is an important part of any business, particularly for farming, forestry, primary industry and manufacturing/processing businesses.
We can advise you on:
- governance issues such as director/owner liability
- advice around compliance with health and safety legislation
- defending prosecutions
