A new law has come into force that allows employees to raise a pay equity claim. Most people don’t want to take their employer to Court if they don’t have to. The amendment to the Equal Pay Act 1972 provides a new process to raise claims and negotiate in good faith with the employer, as well as access to mediation and resolution services.
COVID-19 has highlighted the many workers who do important work but who are not well or fairly paid for it. So far settlement claims have seen pay increases of up to 30 percent for claimants.

If you have not already spoken to your lawyer about this, then we would encourage you to do so as soon as possible. Read more about the changes here.
