He works in our Invercargill office as well as our Winton office with Rebecca McLeod.
After graduating from the University of Otago, Alex moved to Auckland and worked in-house for the Australasian Performing Rights Association. Since beginning with Preston Russell in 2015, Alex has developed a wide range of skills and legal knowledge with a particular interest in employment and a client base in the rural sector.
Alex has gained extensive knowledge in rural and property transactions. He has experience in rural refinancing, restructuring and farm succession planning, as well as residential conveyancing.
Additionally, Alex is a valuable member of our Employment team. He has covered a wide range of employment issues, representing both employers and employees. This has seen Alex gain exceptional experience in dispute resolution, mediation work and the Employment Relations Authority allowing him to identify the best possible solution for his clients to take in order to achieve maximum results.
Combining his rural knowledge with his employment experience has seen Alex become a trusted advisor to many of our farming clients. Alex is recognised as a pragmatic problem solver who works with his clients to understand the complete picture, no matter how complex and to provide tailored advice of the highest quality.
Alex’s reputation is heightened by his success at an International level. During his time at law school Alex won the World Client Consultation Competition in 2012, proving he is more than capable of performing under pressure. In 2014 Alex received the Highest International Overall Grade in Negotiation and Early Dispute Resolution with the College of Law. Alex’s experience, coupled with his international success proves that he is a force to be reckoned with, and someone that clients should want in their corner.
Alex is a self-confessed Southland convert which places him well to work alongside Rebecca McLeod in the Winton office. Alex works in our Winton office two days a week and is actively involved in supporting the local community where he is a member of the Winton Pool Committee.
