In the sporting arena Mr Wilce had been a member of the British Olympic Bobsled Team, captained the Royal Navy Swimming Team, represented England in the 1990 Commonwealth Games Swimming Team and was a member of a Welsh Rugby Team that played against the All Blacks.
On the academic front ( whilst competing in all those sporting activities ) he gained an honorary PhD in Astronomy from Cambridge University, a Masters in Aerospace Systems and Astro Physics from Granfield and Cambridge, been a University Lecturer/Professor/Doctor.
On top of that he served in the Falklands war, Northern Island and the first Gulf war. He served in the Royal Marines and Special Forces and was awarded the DSO, oh, and he also flew helicopters.
Mr Wilce claimed to have worked on projects “so classified that all reference had been cleansed from the internet”, to have served at MI5 and MI6 and in between stints undercover designed the guidance system for the Polaris Missile.
If possible it gets even better. He claimed at some stage to have been on the IRA death list and to prove he also had a cultural side played the guitar on the British Folk circuit Honestly if you do need to be convinced that fact is far stranger than fiction check out the report which is available on the net.
Just shows you that reference checks are only as good as the reference checker. I have to go now NASA has emailed me for my input on their space programme.
