Surviving Your Christmas Work Break Up

Seven Tips For Surviving Your Christmas Work Break Up Without Unjustifiably Dismissing Someone Or Resigning

One - if you are an employee and hate the boss don't go to the xmas party. If your partner hates the boss do not go to the xmas party. Whilst sober most of us are able to be civil  - after 10 RTD's telling the boss what you really you think of them or your partner complaining about how little you are paid is not career enhancing - stay at home, and watch a DVD.

Two - if you secretly fancy the boss - do not go to the xmas party. Again most of us are able to feign disinterest when sober. Your work mates will watch you. The following Monday there will be rumours - stay at home and watch a DVD.

Three - do not complain about the Christmas work do if it is paid for by the boss - it is bad manners - stay at home and watch DVD.

Four - do not complain about the Christmas work do if other workers have organized it and you did not offer to help - this also is bad manners stay at home and watch DVD.

Five - if you are an employer do not give out cheap gifts. I heard of a large employer that gave staff an apple each - it would have better to give nothing - when it comes to Christmas and it’s from the boss it is NOT the thought that counts.

Six - if you are an employer do not take the opportunity to do an off the cuff performance review with the person who has annoyed you all year - better to stay at home and watch DVD.

Seven - if you are either an employer or an employee do not have a domestic at the work do - whilst it is extremely entertaining for bystanders you do not want the 2011 work break up to be remembered for the decade as the "do where X went ballistic" better that you had stayed home and watched a  DVD.
